# Plans and credits

> What is free, what credits pay for, what Creator adds, and how credits are granted, spent and topped up.

## The editor is free

Every plan, Free included, has the full editor: the multi-track timeline, your own agent and the twelve built-in skills, every caption style, SRT and VTT captions, looks, effects, transitions and keyframes, graphics, stock media, video understanding and search on your Mac, and unlimited exports up to 4K without a watermark. None of it uses credits. Hosted AI tools spend credits, which come with Creator.

## What credits pay for

Credits pay for hosted AI, and 100 credits are $1 whatever you spend them on. Free includes no credits.

> **Tip:** Generation shows its exact price before you start, and that is what you pay. A generation that fails or is cancelled is refunded.

## The plans

| **Enterprise** | Credit bundles sized to your team, central billing and invoicing, and a direct line |

Current prices and allowances are on [Pricing](https://formats.app/pricing). Plans are bought in the app, after you sign in. A plan is for one person, on every Mac they sign in to; for a team, Enterprise gives each person a seat. The earlier Captions and Pro plans are no longer offered; their subscribers keep them, with every feature above, until they change plan or cancel.

## How credits work

- Monthly plan credits expire 30 days after they are granted, and yearly plan credits after 365 days. They do not roll over.
- Top-up credits never expire. They are an add-on for Creator; credits you bought earlier keep working on any plan.
- Everything shares one balance, and the oldest credits are spent first.
- Upgrading from Free keeps every credit you have and adds Creator's allowance once payment succeeds. Moving from monthly to yearly billing takes effect at once: it charges the yearly price and adds the yearly credits to any you still have. Moving to monthly billing takes effect at the next billing date, and a cancellation at the end of the period you paid for.
- If you run out, the editor keeps working; hosted AI waits for a top-up, the next grant or an upgrade.
